Clinical Supervision for Your Private Practice
Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit--or are you developing one?
Do you want to make sure that you can control how many clients you see, what types of clients you work with and what you earn? Then having your own private practice here in Arizona might be the right path to independent licensure for you. To achieve this, you need an LPC Board Approved Clinical Supervisor for your private practice!
Maybe you went into your master’s program knowing that you wanted to start your own business as soon as possible. Maybe you never thought about starting your own private practice but you’ve been working in an agency for about 6 to 12 months. Now, the case load and production requirements have you on the edge of burnout. Maybe you have already been working on your independent license for close to 2byears and you aren’t getting enough hours at the Community mental health agency you work for, and you need a way to start making those hours faster.
I would love to help you earn the clinical supervision hours you need while also helping you develop your skills in the modalities that I have some expertise.
Agency isn't helping you get your hours or helping you with the modalities you want to learn?
If you’ve asked over and over for more hours of clinical supervision and your agency just isn’t providing them, it might be time to start a part-time private practice!! This can feel daunting. However, there are simple basic steps that you can start doing while you are still working to make that happen.
Let me help you get over the worries and concerns you have about taking this risk. Let me help you take that leap into private practice!!
The Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZ-BBHE) requires your Arizona private practice supervisor to provide you clinical supervision as well as administrative supervision over your whole private practice. You will receive support for setting up your documentation and billing and making sure that you are setting up your business appropriately to have a practice that is safe for your clients and will keep you out of trouble with the AZ-BBHE.
Let me help you think though a few things as you consider who you want to hire as your Supervisor for your Supervised Private Practice.
-
Do you plan to work with children / adolescents (0-17)? I only provide supervision for clients 18 and older. Some people then ask if they can have 2 supervisors. This is not allowed by the AZ-BBHE. You need one supervisor for all your clients.
-
How many hours of supervision do you need for your independent license? I prefer to work with those who need at least 25+ hours for their license. I need to work with you long enough to be able to develop a sense of who you are as a Clinician (your ability to diagnose, do treatment plans, provide evidence-based work, are you ethical, know what to do if client is suicidal, etc?), so that I can sign off on the “Verification of Clinical Supervision”
-
Which Electronic Health Record (EHR) will you be using? You'll need to establish that to make it easy for both of us (and affordable) to read & sign off on all your assessments, treatment plans and progress notes.
-
Where do you live / plan to have office space? If you are not aware, it is required that I come to your office or home (if you are only providing tele-health) to get a sense of your set up. This must happen every 60 days during supervision of your private practice. I will need to charge you for this travel time.
-
Do you need supervision hours on the weekend (Saturday/Sunday)? I will not be able to provide you with supervision hours on Saturdays or Sundays. This is not to say that I cannot take a 15-20 minute emergency call on the weekend to help you with a client, but I cannot schedule our usual Clinical Supervision hour on the weekend.
Before we talk - please make sure you have read through all the information on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiner's website so you know all the rules.
